Falls are unpredictable accidental events. Elderly people live on their own or in elderly homes. In the report Fall Prevention in older Age: 30% of people aged 65 experience a fall event in a year.
There is a great need for immediate help after a fall event. How to detect a fall event?
Fall detection is usually addressed using technological solutions.
The prototype:
- Measures: 120x120cm
- Made of two layers:
- Upper layer: standard laminate flooring surface
- Lower layer: extruded polystyrene
- Between layers, a system of 16 force sensors is wired to an Arduino micro-controller.
- Sensors: Force Sensing Resistors (inexpensive).
